Tulsa Youth Symphony

Making a difference on a bigger scale

TYS is one of the three longest continuously operating arts organizations in the city. Since 1963, we have provided unique training and performance opportunities to talented young musicians across Northeastern Oklahoma.

More than 200 students, ages 8–18, come together from Tulsa, Broken Arrow, Jenks, Owasso, Tahlequah, and beyond. Tulsa Youth Symphony opens doors to new musical experiences the students simply cannot get from any other organization or school. They receive advanced orchestral training, have regular contact with professional musicians, and offer performances each season.

The benefits Tulsa Youth Symphony gives back to the community are many. For many young musicians, TYS ignites the desire to pursue a professional career. Our students have gone on to many prestigious music schools, universities, symphonies and orchestras, strengthening Tulsa’s reputation across the nation. Other TYS graduates have gone one to serve our community as music teachers and performers and business leaders. Alumni who choose careers other than music often become enthusiastic patrons of the arts.

And of course, we all benefit from the opportunity to hear these amazing youth perform in formal and informal venues several times each year.
